Editorial Review for Santos' Party House – by Joshua M. Bernstein
In Short
After bureaucracy snafus and construction delays, rocker Andrew W. K. and partners Spencer Sweeney and Pianos' owner Larry Golden have unveiled their downtown dance hall. Designed for serious rump shaking, the ex-art gallery has been transformed into a bi-level, 8,000-square-foot space, with Crayola-hued cinder block walls and disco balls aplenty, and stupendous, bass-pumping speakers that rival any sound system in town. In case you get lost amid the crowd of sweaty hipsters and scenesters, helpful signs like "You are in the bathroom!" point you in the right direction.
Hits: In a New York club scene overrun with exclusive bottle-service boites where no one dare boogie, Santos' serves as a dancing nirvana with sweet DJs spinning on a thumptastic sound system.
Misses: You better like dancing, because seats are scarce as snowflakes in summer. And after all that construction, it'd be nice to have more creative decor than disco balls.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoLeave that camera at home: Photography is banned at the club.
What to DrinkBroke boozers need not smuggle a flask into Santos'. Well drinks are priced at a reasonable $8 (by club standards), while Sixpoint beers are $6.
Fun FactOriginally, Andrew W.K. wanted to call the place "Santa's Party House," but the Christmas-themed name didn't pass muster.

Santos is by far my favorite place in the city... I work in nightlife marketing so I know first hand how a lot of club owners aim for quantity of clientele over quality of clientele... this place has more spark and character in 'it's little finger' than any place I can think of at the moment. You don't worry about what you're wearing or how much you'll end up blowing on drinks! The drinks though have gotten a little bit more expensive but what can you do... Go wiggle with some hipsters and be glad that there's still some soul left in the city after all :)
Pros: great music, fun crowd
Cons: increased drink prices

I was at Santos' last night, and arrived about 11pm with my friends. From the second we walked up to the door, I found Santos' staff to be friendly and the music to be fantastic and the other partygoers to be some seriously cool people. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a solid time without all of the pretentious BS that seems to be attached to other venues in Manhattan. If you're not having fun at Santos' something is seriously wrong.
