TAJ II

Come in and experience The Brand New TAJ II

  • Newly Renovated Space
  • Exciting and Creative New Menu
  • New Weekly Events and Parties

Standing out amidst other Flatiron lounges, TAJ II is the newly reinvented combination of restaurant, lounge and event space.

With opulent imported decor, such as carved teak woodwork, sandstone Dancing Shivas sculptures, and a magnificent mahogany and copper-topped bar, TAJ II transports its guests to the ultimate luxury of dining and nightlife inspired by India.

Menu offerings have been recreated to feature New American Cuisine with Indian fusion. Highlights include Starters such as the Peaky Toe Crab Cakes and Paneer Caramelized Mushroom Tart and are followed by mouth-watering Mains like the Crispy Skin Pomegranate Chicken and the Smoked Salt Portobello Mushrooms. Exceptional service compliments the dishes for an experience not soon to be forgotten.

Editorial Review for TAJ II – by Sandra Ramani

The Scene
A fine blend of style and substance, this large, modern space is accented with a mahogany bar, carved teak screens, sandstone statues and sexy lighting, most of it imported from India. But this is no theme restaurant: The food and atmosphere are infused with the exotic, rather than overpowered by it. Soft banquettes and pillow-laden booths enhance a refreshingly mellow vibe, and the shift from eatery to lounge is organic.

The Food
The kitchen has created a changing menu of upscale French and New American dishes with Indian touches. Tandoori-style red snapper is delicately flavored with mushroom ghee; pan-roasted lobster tops deliciously aromatic basmati rice; and the wild-greens salad is hopping with chaat masala. Portions are small, so you'll have room for some wild berry "samosas" afterward.

Insider Tips

Know Before You Go

With no attitude or door policies (some servers even wear flip-flops with their stylish black outfits), the restaurant aims to be inclusive. So if you see a line, it's because of the fire codes.

What to Drink

Signature cocktails include the cucumber-infused mojito and an Absolut Citron, rosewater and champagne martini.

The Extras

With large U-shaped banquettes, tons of comfy seating and a mezzanine-level lounge, the space is great for big parties.

When to Go

Taj II hosts regular nightly events, including Wednesday comedy nights, salsa every Monday and a weekly Haitian-themed party called Kompa Sundays. Call in advance for details on what's happening.

We had a party on the weekend here and were upstairs having a good time when we were rudely told by the staff that our time was up and we must leave our tables because they had customers who were "popping bottles". We had a nice time to that point and had bought lots of food and drink. Then without permission they moved all our stuff from our tables and said they had already told us to move. The people who replaced us were rough and had no manners and we did not feel comfortable. When we left we reliseed one of my friends cameras was gone and my phone was missing aslo. This was not a nice ending and I am sure all my friends felt the same way. We asked to talk to manger on the way out but were told by girl at desk she was not available. We said we would wait but were told to wait outside as we were leaving .The manager never came. I gave my card to doorman if they found anything but they never called me .How rude! Never go back again as they ruined our party and we were made to feel very unwelcome

Pros: Decoration and Food

Cons: crowd and staff

Finally somewhere for the grown and chill!! This place has great afterwork happy hour drink specials, good food . The music is chill and there is no hassle with service. I would say go here if you are looking to just chill and vibe. The food is good but don't expect it to be Indian.(which was actually better to me). Check it out! Me and my girlfriends will be back!

Pros: vibe,happy hour

Cons: Parking...had to move car at 11!
